Agreed! This would have to come first, followed by the hockey win of ’02 and the hockey win of this Olympiad. The men’s relay of ’96 has to be there somewhere. I’m sure I’m obviously not doing justice to any Canadian Olympic feats that came well in the past (I think Harry Jerome was a great olympian, among many others), but the ones I’ve stated are my own personal favourites!
Canadians snapped Bailey in Vancouver Opening Ceremony clearly indicating Canada’s long history of racial discrimination…..Sorry Donovan.
another jamaican export making canada proud. Canada should try and annex jamaica.
i love the male announcer, especially when he says “he came from the clouds ” 2:17!!
U win the 100m u own the Olympics, And Canada owned the Olympics in Atlanta.
God Bless Canada, God Bless Bailey!
very suspensful race, thats what made it so amzing
what r u talking about? we r not racist! please don’t start some racial dispute here, this is about running not about race
i don’t know, Crosby scoring Gold Medal about 1 week ago was the greatest moment
at the 30 meter mark Bailey is dead last, by the 80 meter mark he is clearly in front, such a thing is unheard of in track…first time in history
the only true canadians are the Inuits to the Euro’s. the majority of canadians are exports.
CANADA
way to sound like an American you goof.
This race conjures up a vast array of images. It is a testament to the human spirit; resilience and fortitude – can you imagine what was going through Bailey’s head; before, during, and after the race?
Every now and again, you get a moment – just one moment – so incontrovertibly poignant and emotionally stirring, that it moves your very being – it serves as an impeccable symbol of life…
So can we please stop with the hateful comments? Unite together in commemoration of humanity; of life!
3 jamaicans in the final before christie was eliminated..but a jamaican born still won
impossible
@ElJoeyJojo — This is a solo performance, not a team sport. The 100m Olympic final has a LOT more pressure than an OT hockey game. Not to minimize Crosby’s goal, but this was much more significant. And it was a World Record, come from behind victory. And the 3 False Starts as well, and He won this on American soil!
best form since carl lewis, d bailey..would have liked to see him and bolt go at it as both have scary top speeds..of course those times mean nothing today but at this level you tend to run according to the competition, so yes, if you put bailey in top form today against bolt i think that would be something to see..
id be pissed with so many false starts
I was all of 7 years old when this race was run and I can still remember sitting on my couch with my family and watching Donovan Bailey winning, it was such a great moment, one most Canadians will remember forever
Are you kidding me?? Bailey taking the Gold in the US is beyond words. Never again.
good call, good race
bad start and no lean at the end…
he coulda run 9.78ish easy
@marvelownz5 it is not proven that leaning at the end is actually better than finishing running straight.
He might of had a bad start but him catching up near the finish made it so much more exciting. To me anyway.
why is Bailey is running with a watch?!
I think that 3 false starts are even worse (for achieving good times) than a bad start..
