Russians should win gold in pairs, dance & men’s solo.
@zephyrseija not a troll if it is true.
Two teams FELL and scored 2nd place and 3rd place. That PROVES it is a joke. how can a team FALL DOWN and score higher than the ones that complete with no mistakes?
Its a crap event.
Totally agree. It looks like all the medalists are preordained. Not only did Trankov fall last night but he fell BIG. It was obvious Trankov himself was shocked by the score at the end of the short program. The American pairs performed perfectly (or at least nearly so without any obvious screw-ups) with nice programs but were about 20 points behind Mukhortova/Trankov. Why bother?? I was also disappointed by Dick Button, who basically said to American skaters “Tough luck, kids.
The judges need to be FIRED! wth 3 falls in one long and scores highenough for 1st falls in the second out of sink and still way to high scores. I personally think the only mistakes the americans did was have bad customes. It’s figure skating Americans did a wonderful job with little to no mistakes, not perfect like the Chinese older couple but they did great better then a lot others. Maybe the scoring system is broken a fall is a fall you break your routine it’s like breaking art.
Shen Xue & Zhao Hongbo are the best!
So happy they have won the Olympic Gold medal!
What is this channel? I didn’t think figure skating still aired in the US. I was very upset when it got kicked off ESPN. How do I get this channel so I can watch it?
nbc aired figure skating the past two nights. mens and pairs. i think women’s airs the 23 but im not quite sure.
I know they are airing it during the Olympics, but I am talking about the grand prix series, europeans, worlds, four continents… etc. Looks like that’s what this channel is about.
You have to understand how the judging system works. Each element is worth so many points called the base value. The judges then award the grade of execution mark for how well the element was performed. The russian team did harder elements that were worth more than what the americans did so a one point deduction will not cost them for the fall. The marks are not given purely on whether or not they stay on their feet. The russians did harder elements and deserved the marks they got.
Poor Joubert ended up in 16th place, but I am happy for the new Olympic men’s champion.
I guess I am not the only one that doesn’t understand the scoring system. Otherwise Plushenko wouldn’t be complaining about his silver medal finish at the 2010 Winter Olympics. And again from a non-skater, I think Johnny Weir got a raw deal.
I can’t help but feel sorry for the Russian Pair as they only just recently won their first international competition. If Russia would quit putting so much pressure on it’s athletes then maybe they would perform better. There is one thing the IOC needs to address though. Why can some athletes compete for other countries without being penalized yet for others don’t. Yuko shouldn’t of had to give up her citizenship to compete. Cross country was won by an American representing France?
K/S had the worst free skate I have ever seen yet they managed to pull off a 4th place finish. If they skated the same way they did at Europeans they would have won the silver. They have been probably the most impressive pairs team I have seen in a while. Climbing up the ranks vary fast for how young the team is. Out of 24 competitions they didn’t medal 6 times. The worst being at worlds in 07 where they placed 9th, after 2 months off for a broken foot.
Why was Yuko so angry?
THEY ALL HAVE SO MUCH TALENT….
Yeah yeah…China, Russia and USA have hundreds of millions of people to choose from.
YEAH! CANADA!
i love the olympics winter and summer
But here is a sport i CANT WAIT to see in the Olimpics some day
Search “Parkour Temecula” to see it for your self
…sometimes the ice is not in good conditions. I believe in Vancouver they had a lot of trouble keeping up the ice, so much that they had delays.
Unfortunately these factors cannot give the athletes a second chance.
I noticed many of these skaters seem to use the same type of music. I would be honored to compose something for one of them. Something visually sounding and stunning like nothing before.
