Hi, just back from the Paralympics and trying to figure out where this was filmed. Was it outside BC Place or at Robson Square? Thanks – amazing performance.

@MrSusanC it was at at Robson Square. The show was being projected on the Sears building. We where on the steps of the art gallery.

KD is First Nations … in the States equals Native American … we Native peeps in the States were like “hell yeah” that night of the Olympics

Thank you so much – this is the only video of her actual singing during the opening ceremonies I have found so far. .. With all the people outside watching, her singing was so powerful that most of the onlookers were listening, not talking over her singing; just simply wonderful…..

I can’t get enough of this video. To my knowledge, you guys were the only people to record a full version of the ACTUAL live performance–at least that was allowed to stay up on YouTube! There are other re-recordings on YouTube. but they were pre-recorded before the actual performance and several things aren’t quite the same, aren’t nearly as emotional as kd’s actual performance that night. Thanks for a great vid!

@Coelacanth97 Thanks, Ya we love this video too. I feel like it was a great moment for us being there and one I will not forget.

I was there by chance … with maybe 2000 strangers. Everyone was smiling ear to ear, even though it was raining. A once in a lifetime occasion for BC. : )

Every time I see this – and I have watched it so often that my tape will no longer work! – I get shivers, tears and a profound sense of pride. It is unfortunate that there are very few commercial artists that will ever have this level of talent.

as our Midwestern tribe would call it .. mamadoomonhuah … barefooot … she went through the only experience that few midwestern and Canadian natives have gone through – much less the males – the barefeet declare it … it is not pretty … that is why is she has my total respect

  24. RichardKuzon 14 Jul 2010 at 12:33 am

Glad I found this amazing performance. Stopped breathing so many times that I feel light headed!

    Best goose-bump version ever!
Leonard Cohen knows it, you know it and I know it too:)
