1992 DEREK REDMOND THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT. He is best remembered for his performance at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona where he tore his hamstring in the 400 metres semi-final but fought through the pain and, with assistance from his father, managed to complete a full lap of the track as the crowd gave him a standing ovation. The incident has become a well-remembered moment in Olympic history, having been the subject of one of the International Olympic Committee’s ‘Celebrate Humanity’ videos and been used in advertisements by Visa as an illustration of the Olympic spirit and featured in Nike’s “Courage” commercials in 2008.

Bishop Moise’s plan of rebuilding Haiti by building the first World Capital in Haiti. A project of law must be adopted then a referendum must be organized to get the approval of the Haitian people. The World Capital will serve as headquarter for the World Assembly and permanent basis for World Cup and Olympic Games and other international sportive, cultural or musical events. World Cap will also be inhabited by world citizens with independent passports and visas without being under jurisdiction of any country in the world.

He nearly stopped running at around the 130m mark only to re-accelerate and finish in the all important 4th place to qualify for the finals. Unfortunately he was unable to compete in the final, but this race remains extremely impressive. Cameron has gone on to be one of the more influential people in Jamaican athletics and a huge role model for so many Caribbean athletes! Enjoy the action!
Biwott had ony run the steeplechase three times before this final,but he stunned the other athletes with an absolute sprint down the home straight,relegating fellow Kenyan Benjamin Kogo and US runner George Young to the minor medals
